…Weah Tells Thousands Of Supporters
By N. Dweh Nimley
Despite the heavy downpour of rain, supporters of Liberia’s biggest opposition political party, Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) last Friday turned out in their numbers to climax the party political campaign.
Many supporters and sympathizers of CDC used various means of transportations to get to the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in central Monrovia.
Entertainment centers along the principal streets of Monrovia played campaign songs, while partisans and supporters of the party were seen jubilating.
The standard bearer of the party, Senator George Manneh Weah, took several hours to arrive in Monrovia, due to similar campaign activities in Sinoe and RiverCess Counties respectively.
As expected by his supporters, Senator Weah arrived along with Vice Standard Jewel Howard Taylor to a jammed packed Antoinette Tubman Stadium. It took the supporters additional 45 minutes to hear from their political leader.
Upon taking the stage, Senator Weah told his supporters that “this is our time; a time for everyone to come and join the change for hope. This is the time for you as CDCians to make that choice and the best one you can make is to vote the Coalition for Democratic Change.”
He said Liberians are ready for change and are resolved for that change. He informed his supporters that he has traveled across the country and pitied the living condition of people, including challenges they go through.
He assured his supporters that his administration would improve the lives of Liberians and they will have access to basic social services to include healthcare, education, and accessible roads network across the country.
Ambassador Weah called on supporters of the party to vote for a change that will move the country forward, adding that the CDC is the best choice. “The CDC is your best choice for moving this country forward, so I call on CDCians to vote come October 10, the CDC,” he pleaded.
He said a CDC-led government will develop the country and create jobs for Liberians. He also said it is important to protect the future of the next generation.
Ambassador told the jubilant crowd that a CDC-led government will be government of the people, because the power of governance is inherent in the people. “Tomorrow you can be like me and you can be the next leader of our country, that’s why I say to you today, change for hope,” he stated.
He urged supporters to remain focus and not to be moved by politicians who have promised them but failed to deliver.
“All what they are saying that they will do, I have done most of that, so I am your best choice,” Weah said.
