…Lawmaker Blames Citizens For Defeat
By A. Omaska Jallah
Defeated Representative of Grand Bassa County District #4, Byron Browne has blamed his defeat to the lack of understanding by citizens in his district.
Rep. Browne said his defeat came on grounds that citizens did not understand that building roads and bridges are not the work of a lawmaker.
The outgoing Grand Bassa County Representative said his defeat did not mean that he performed dismally, “but I think I was defeated because they needed change, even though some will have the understanding that I did not build their roads and bridges.”
According to him, the distance between the citizens and central government has caused lawmakers to be suppressed by their citizens to the extent that they understand that lawmakers are to build roads, schools, hospital and bridges.
Rep. Browne said he will remain actively working with his people to fulfill promises he made during the election.
Forty three of the 73 representatives were defeated during the October 10 elections, while 30 were retained by their districts.
