The Catalytic project accountant at the Ministry of Education Pewee Flomo has been arrested and charged with US$34,000 Theft of Property following a complaint filed by Dr. Etmonia D. Tarpeh, Minister of Education.
Defendant Flomo, a former employee of the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL) was recently convicted by Criminal Court “C” at the Temple of Justice for withdrawing US$16,000 from NOCAL account at Ecobank-Liberia.
According to the complaint, Minister Tarpeh told the Police that on August 13, 2014, defendant Flomo was allegedly given the amounts of US$101, 710 and US$35,000 for deposit at the Liberia Bank for Development and Investment (LBDI).
She told the police that the first deposit was followed by another amount of US$29,924 on September 1, 2014, but instead of depositing the amounts, only US$5,000 was reflected on the bank slip.
She told the police that when the defendant was questioned about the money, he could not give account.
