Reconciliation Tournament Ends

A three-day soccer and kickball tournament organized by Youth Advocate for Transformation and Development (YATAD) has ended with Dargbeh Town emerging as the winner in the soccer category.
Spectators stood to their feet cheering their respective teams as both teams (Dargbeh Town and Gulf Community) found it difficult to find the first goal.
Following ninety minutes of play and extra 30 minutes which ended goalless, the two teams entered a post match penalty shoot-out which ended 5-4.
The tournament according to YATAD Executive D. Teah Nimley was geared towards fostering peace and reconciliation among young people of Montserrado County District #12.
Nimley said his group organized the tournament during the Christmas season as means of uniting the youth across district.
“Understanding that Liberians failure to reconcile with each other, which resulted to the civil war in our country, it was necessary that we the youth of district #12 and members of YATAD to organize this event to bring our fellow youths together.” Teah said.
Teah Nimley explained that his organization seeks to also transform the minds of the youth through capacity building and other development initiatives.
He said over the next few months, YATAD will began the process of engaging the youth of various communities through a dialogue on how they could develop the district and transform the minds of the youths.
The Gulf Community kickball squad won the kickball competition and received the amount L$1,500.00, while Dargbeh Town winner of the soccer competition received L$2,500.00.
Gulf Community soccer team received the amount of L$1,500.00 as first runner-up, while 1603 Community received L$500.00 as second runner-up.
