Angry residents on Front Street Thursday evening mobbed to 6death a man believed to be a notorious criminal.

The man, only identified as Veko, a resident of West Point, was stoned to death by the residents when he and his colleagues attacked the area to terrorize peaceful citizens.

According to an eye witness account, Veko met his demise when he and his colleagues robbed a Lebanese businessman of his money and other items and were escaping the scene when the Lebanese businessman sounded that they were thieves.

The angry crowd chased them while another group arm-bushed them in the Front Street community. There Veko was mobbed to death while his colleague, not identified, escaped with the money with serious wounds, eyewitnesses say.

Marry Kollie, a resident of the community who claimed that she was on the scene of the incident, said while in the process of chasing Veko, two of his alleged criminal friends managed to escape but were badly wounded.

“His two friends were badly wounded, one eye was plugged out and the leg of the other was chopped…but Veko was unfortunate to be killed,” Madam Kollie.

She said when the two alleged criminals escaped, Veko was captured and stoned to death on the spot.

Madam Kollie alleged that Veko was one of the notorious criminals who usually terrorized the community at night.

She said although the killing of Veko was horrible, however, she believes it would serve as a deterrent for others.
 
According to our reporter who visited the scene Thursday morning, the lifeless body of Veko was seen lying upper Front Street with the head bust up.
 
Our reporter said one of his legs was broken.
