...Over Poor implementation of Projects
The Bong County Legislative Caucus headed by its Chairman, Bong County District #1 Representative George Sylvester Mulbah has expressed serious disappointment over poor implementation of projects implemented with funds allotted through the county development fund.
Speaking at the Salala District Headquarters over the weekend, at a start of Bong Legislative Caucus County tour, Representative Mulbah said he was frustrated that several projects in the county were being mismanaged by contractors.
These projects are funded from separate accounts of the County Development Fund (CDF) and the Social Development Fund (SDF) respectively.
Rep. Mulbah told his colleagues that from his assessment, he observed that contractors sub-leased contract to other firms which has resulted to sub standard constructions of public buildings in the county.
During the tour of two of the major project sites in Salala District, members of the Bong Legislative Caucus expressed disappointment over the poor renovation done on the Salala District Hall and the Commissioner's residence which cost US$40,000.
Members of the Caucus said they observed that the locks to the doors of the Salala District Hall and the Commissioner's residence were all spoiled while the inner parts of the building were still incomplete.
The Caucus also observed that the construction of the US$40,000 six-classroom annex of the Martha Tubman High School, which started in 2008, is yet to be completed.
Members of the Caucus said they were informed by the citizens that the school project was abandoned since 2010. The caucus said the building is in ruins as the walls of the school building are cracking with no ceiling tiles, floors and doors.
However, the Chairman of the Bong County Legislative Caucus admitted that the failure of the county lawmakers to have oversight responsibilities of the projects was sufficient reason for the abandonment of the projects.
