User Rating:  / 0

The United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) has confirmed the death of two persons in an accident involving its military ambulance.

In a statement, UNMIL says it deeply regrets the loss of life resulting from the tragic accident which occurred on November 22, 2012 in Schefflin Town on the Roberts International Airport (RIA) highway.

A UN military ambulance collided with a motorcycle carrying two occupants, the driver and a passenger.

The accident victims were taken to the nearby Firestone plantation hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The statement quotes the United Nations as extending its deepest sympathy to the families of the deceased and to the communities mourning their loss.

The mission said it is collaborating with the Liberia National Police in the conduct of an investigation to determine circumstances surrounding the accident.
