Gunmen Arrested For ‘Shooting’ Businessman

As the festive season draws nearer, many people continue to fall prey at the hands of criminal gangs, especially armed robbers across Monrovia.
The latest incident occurred Tuesday, November 20, 2012 in the Hotel Africa community in Virginia outside Monrovia.
A local businessman identified as Jacob Brown fell victim to two gunmen when they opened fire in an attempt to take away his belongings including cash.
A police source hinted that the gunmen shot the legs of Jacob Brown commonly known as “Haja” thus leaving him severely injured.
The armed robbers managed to take away the victim’s bag containing two laptops and other valuables.
According to the source, the suspected armed robbers also held another girl at gun point and took away her bag and mobile phone. The victim is being treated at the John F. Kennedy Hospital in Sinkor.
In the wake of the latest arm robbery attack, Deputy Police Director for Operation, Abraham Kromah confirmed the arm robbery incident.
He disclosed that two men believed to be the suspects have been arrested and placed behind bars for investigation.
Col. Kromah said suspects Andrew Cooper, 21 and David Teah, 26 were arrested Wednesday, a day after the alleged commission of the crime following a tip off from community members who saw the suspects with a single barrel gun and some items.
Deputy Director Kromah said the two laptops and the lady’s bag were retrieved and currently in the possession of the police.
Police Director Chris Massaquoi told a MICAT press conference last week that arm robbery was on the increase in Monrovia. However, he assured the public that the LNP would deal with the situation.
It remains to be seen whether mechanisms put in place to combat arm robbery and other crimes will make the expected impact as criminal gangs roam the streets of Monrovia.
