…Council Of Churches
The Liberia Council of Churches (LCC) has condemned recent events in Yekepa, Nimba County, which led to the destruction of properties of Arcelor Mittal and disruption of normalcy in that area.
The Council considers the actions as unacceptable and inimical to the cry for peace and stability and calls on Government of Liberia to institute proper investigation to establish the causes and avoid a recurrence.
In a release signed by Rev. Dr. Kortu K. Brown, First Vice President, Liberia Council of Churches, the council said it is also extremely concerned about the alarming reports of the spread of Ebola in the country and calls on all churches and people of faith to join in the fight against the deadly virus.
Since the renewed outbreak of Ebola in the country, the LCC and Inter-Religious Council of Liberia (IRCL) said they have remained engaged with authorities of the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders on how to help curtail the spread of the disease through increased public awareness and prayer intervention.
The Council calls on all churches and church leaders including ecumenical partners to pause for a few minutes and lead a special prayer this Sunday, July 13 for the eradication of the disease from the country.
The Council expresses regrets and shares in the pains of residents of Monrovia who have been uprooted from their homes due to the heavy rains and flooding.
