...Along the Weala-Salala Highway
At least one person has been killed and five seriously injured in a tragic motor accident along the Weala-Salala highway.

The accident, which occurred last week, involved a blue private Nissan car marked PC 13544 and a yellow commercial Nissan marked TX 8180.

The driver of the yellow commercial vehicle, identified as Kuita Rennie died instantly.

Eye witnesses in Yeablai, the village in which the accident occurred, blamed the accident on excessive speeding by drivers of both vehicles.

Eyewitnesses said the accident occurred when the two cars were bending a deep and narrow curve during which one of them lost control and collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

Abraham Peters, an eyewitness on the scene of the accident, told reporters that the two cars were running at high speed when the blue vehicle left its lane and hit the yellow taxi.

Another eye witness, Garmai Yango, said she was in the swamp lying fish baskets when she suddenly heard the loud sound. The woman said when she got on the scene, she heard people crying for help, and she ran for her axe which was used to forcibly open the doors of one of the vehicles.

The survivors of the accident are currently seeking emergency medical care at the C.H Rennie hospital in Kakata, Margibi.
