...Robert Sirleaf Declares
Montserrado County senatorial candidate Robert A. Sirleaf has told worshipers at an intercessory service in his honor that he's leaning on Jesus Christ to direct him.
The intercessory service was organized by the Pastoral Network for the Promotion of Robert A. Sirleaf (PAN-PRAS) headed by Rev. Emmanuel F. Johnson of Brown Memorial A. M.E Zion Church located on Benson Street.
Speaking Sunday at the Mary Sharp Memorial Church in the Waterside area in Monrovia, independent candidate Sirleaf said everyday he looks up to Jesus to lead him as he strives to make a difference in the lives of the people of Liberia.
“When I wake up in the morning, I say to God give me the opportunity today so that I can change the life of someone,” Mr. Sirleaf stressed.
He told the jubilant congregation that Jesus is the best person to trust and depend on because when he's beside you, no one can harm you. He added “I know his eyes are on the sparrow and I know he watches over me,” Mr. Sirleaf noted in a statement which appears to have amazed a lot of people.
Sirleaf said everyday he asks God for His grace and opportunity to believe in himself.
Earlier in his sermon, Rev. Melvin Kennedy told Mr. Sirleaf to always trust in God and lean not on his own understanding, urging him to “acknowledge the Lord in all of his ways.”
Preaching from the text Proverbs 3:5, Rev. Kennedy said it is important for Christians to allow God to guide and direct their paths.
He told the congregation that the “secret to success is not in any medicine man but God; whenever God leads the way, there is no turning back; when God leads the way, the red sea cannot stop you; whenever God leads the way, no one can destroy you.”
Rev. Kennedy, who is the Conference Secretary of the A.M.E. Zion Church, asked God's guidance upon Mr. Sirleaf in his life journey.
During the service, several prayers were offered on Rob Sirleaf including “strength for the journey; unity along the journey and success through the journey.
