The Proprietress of Passion Hotel in Gbarnga, Bong County, Dabah Varpilar has dismissed media reports that Representative Acarous Gray was held at her hotel for failing to settle his bills.
A local newspaper reported on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 that Representative Gray was barred from checking out of the Passion Hotel after he failed to settle a bill of US$300 for four days.
According to the paper, the lawmaker was later allowed to leave the facility, following the intervention of its owner, Tornola Varpilar and Representative Edwin Snowe, who assured the proprietress that the lawmaker would pay the amount when he gets to Monrovia.
However, the Proprietress termed the report as childish and unprofessional journalism, which has injured her business.
She said the story is a blatant lie and a political make-up by some individuals.
“I know nothing about Representative Gray being held hostage for payment of bill. My Site Manager has no idea about such a thing happening,” she said.
Madam Varpilar said “what I do know is that Hon. Gray and his colleagues came over the weekend from Thursday and stayed there until Sunday and made payment on Saturday.”
She provided scanned copy of the receipt provided to Representative Gray and said “the way the story went is only intended to defame someone character.”
