...Police Chief Warns Rioters
The Liberia National Police have warned that anyone obstructing the operations of China Union in the concession area of Bong Mines should stop or face the consequences of their action.
Police Director Chris Massaquoi said those impeding the operations of the company must get out and abandon their actions as the LNP will not relent in dealing with trouble makers.
For the last few days, former workers of the Bong Mining Company (BMC) have been staging a violent protest against the China Union for which the company was shut down for about five days.
A press release signed by LNP's Media Coordinator, Sam Collins quotes Director Massaquoi as saying that the police are ready to restore calm to the area.
Director Massaquoi disclosed that the action of the rioters has led to the shutting down of hospitals and schools within the area.
He said the police will not tolerate any violence by trouble makers. He urged the former BMC workers to channel their grievances through the relevant agencies of government, instead of preventing the concession company from operating.
The Police Chief has ordered rioters to remove all road blocks from the concession area immediately because the LNP will not relent in handling the situation to protect the company and other innocent citizens who reside within the area.
