Three Nigerian nationals on Saturday appeared before the Harper Magisterial Court in Maryland County on charges of armed robbery.

The commander of the Crime Services Division (CSD) at the Hoffman police detachment in Harper city, Detective Saye Korma, who accompanied the three Nigerian armed robbers to court, said the men were arrested in possession of dangerous weapons including a long kitchen knife, a pistol and three single barriers shoots.

According to commander Korma, the three Nigerians armed robbers attacked the residence of a Lebanese businessman identified as Namera Yassi on Green Street when they cut the barbwire from the window at the back of his house.

The CSD boss explained that the patrol team of the LNP spotted them at the home of Yassi, trying to break into the house, when the watchman at the house, Ousman Sessay, shouted for help.

Immediately the Lebanese businessman called the police who responded promptly and they were arrested.

Commander Korma said the gang leader of the group Monday Ayei was charged with armed robbery while the other two have been charged with criminal facilitation.
