The Mayor of Istanbul, Kadir Topbas, says the government of Turkey will support Liberia in its development drive.
A release from the National Investment Commission (NIC) said Mayor Topbas made the assertion in Turkey during a meeting with NIC Chairman O. Natty B. Davis.
Mayor Topbas is quoted as saying that Turkey would share knowledge, experiences and extend every support to Liberia.
The release disclosed that Mayor Topbas reportedly agreed to cooperate with the twining of municipalities around Liberia, especially Monrovia and Paynesville Cities with Istanbul through capacity and infrastructure development.
As part of support to vocational skills training, Mayor Topbas agreed to accept 10 Liberians to be trained at the Istanbul Vocational Center, which currently provides wide range of skills training.
For his part, National Investment Commission Chairman Natty Davies expressed appreciation to Mayor Topbas for the warn welcome accorded his delegation.
According to the release, UNDP played the role as convener, facilitator and broker of investment and development of the private sector.
UNDP's Istanbul International Center for Private Sector Development accompanied the Liberian delegation to meet with Mayor Topbas.
The Liberian delegation was in Turkey as part of a wider engagement with Istanbul International Center for Private Sector Development.
