…Veep Taylor Terms Her Ascendency

Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor has described her ascendency as ‘historic.’
Vice President Taylor is the first woman to be elected Vice President of Liberia.
In a statement Tuesday, the Vice President said her presence at the Liberian Senate as President of that body epitomizes a significant milestone in the history of the Legislature of Liberia.
“As I humbly begin my service to this noble assembly as first ever female President of the Liberian Senate, my ascendency marks the first time in the history of the Legislature,” she said.
She said she is grateful for the opportunity to work with her senators for the next six years, stressing the it is her hope the 54th Legislature can change the country and build the Liberia that all Liberians yearn for.
“To God be the glory and honor, for great things he has done for our nation and people, he alone deserves all praises and because of his mighty works, his unfailing grace and his matchless love, we witnessed an unprecedented democratic transition and our unity, progress and development,” the Vice President excitingly said.
The former Bong County Senator extended heartfelt gratitude to President George Weah and the Liberian people for the confidence reposed in her to serve the nation in her current capacity.
She promised to do her best, working in concert to deliver on her pro-poor agenda for the people of Liberia.
The Vice President admonished the senators to lend their support to the new government.
Vice President Taylor who was extremely excited in session yesterday, January 23, 2018 told the senators that she was truly humbled by the awesomeness and enormity of the Constitutional duties and responsibilities which have been devolved upon her.
