Govt. Must Meet The Security Challenge

News About Alleged subversive activities being circulated by unscrupulous individuals in Monrovia is becoming scaring especially as we approach the festive season.

Leaflets Have Been posted on buildings alleging that Representative Edwin Snowe is in discussions with army generals from Burkina Faso aimed at waging war on the country. This is disturbing for the security of the state and should be condemned.

This Rumor Which has spread like wildfire should be taken very seriously by the government thereby using security intelligence to go after the source of the leaflets.

We Recalled in December 1989, similar anti-peace messages abound and there were even photographs of beheaded bodies around that time. At the time, the government of Samuel Doe neglected the situation until the war came at his door.

Again, We Are beginning to see a potentially provocative development which, if not investigated and halted, could be explosive. As of late, there have been display of postal or placards in the streets of Monrovia with inscriptions which allegedly link District #6 Representative Edwin Snowe to subversive activities.

This Incident Is taking place right before our eyes and the Liberian government has remained mute about it without condemning the action or taking steps to arrest those behind this unpatriotic attitude.

Although We View this as a security challenge for the Liberian government, however, we urge government that everything should be done within the security sector to ensure that intelligent information is sufficiently gathered as a means of verifying the truth of the matter
