President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has appointed Ganta City Mayor, D. Dorr Cooper as Assistant Development Superintendent for Nimba County.
Mr. Cooper is Vice Chairman of the Ruling Unity Party (UP) in Nimba County. He spearheaded President Johnson-Sirleaf‘s re-election campaign in the county in 2011.
He replaces former Development Superintendent Teeko Yorlay, recently dismissed by President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, following the House of Representatives’ vote of no confident in him and his boss, Superintendent Fong Zuglele.
Mr. Cooper’s appointment was greeted with dancing and jubilation on the street of Ganta.
Several persons including youth, chiefs and elders have lauded President Johnson-Sirleaf for the appointment of Mr. Cooper, who according to them, brought considerable development and attracted businesses to Ganta.
Nyahn Dokie, a resident of Sanniquellie City, Nimba County, upon hearing the appointment of Mr. Cooper, called to explain how grateful he was for the appointment of the Ganta City Major.
Dokie, in an interview with our reporter said, he was of the conviction that Mr. Cooper is best suited for the task of a development superintendent.
