Eighteen defeated representative candidates in Bong County have endorsed the presidential bid of Ambassador George Weah of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).
The endorsement which was done in the absent of the CDC Political Leader, was attended by Mr. Augustus Flomo, a senior member of the Coalition and a former defeated senatorial candidate of Bong County.
Reading the resolution of support CDC, Mr. James Dorbor Sao of electoral District #5 said they have resolved to support CDC based on consultations with their respective campaign teams, cross-section of their supporters and stakeholders.
He said their decision to support CDC is being satisfied by the current position of Senator Jewel Howard Taylor in the Presidential run-off as Vice President on the ticket of the CDC.
He said results from the October 10 polls indicate that Ambassador is the preferred choice of the Liberia people, adding, “Under the tenets of democracy, we will respect the will of the majority of our voters.”
Ninety percent of the eighteen defeated candidates were supporting Ambassador Joseph Nyumah Boakai of the governing Unity Party, but report says that they have decided to cross-carpet to Ambassador Weah.
Accepting the endorsement from the candidates, Mr. Flomo thanked the defeated candidates for their decision to support CDC in the run-off election.
