…For Consolidating China’s Footprint

Mr. Sylvester Grigbsy, Liberia’s Minister of State for Presidential Affairs has praised Chinese Ambassador Zhang Yue for being instrumental in consolidating China’s footprint in the country.
Minister Grigbsy was speaking at ceremony marking the official dedication of the Liberia-China Wushu School and the Martial Arts Exchange Performance at the SKD Sport Complex in Paynesville, near Monrovia.
Minister Grigbsy recounted several developmental initiatives undertaken by China to include the Liberia-China Agricultural Demonstration in Bong, the SDK renovation and ongoing projects including ministerial complex, the RIA and the Capitol Building annex.
“Amb. Zhang Yue has been fighting to promote China-Liberia relationship; he’s someone who loves the people of Liberia,” Minister Grigbsy stressed.
Making remarks, Youth and Sports Minister Saah Charles N’Tow said the Ambassador Yue has been a passionate advocate for the development of Liberia.
He recalled that the presence of the Chinese Ambassador in the country during the height of the Ebola shows China’s commitment to strengthen its relationship with Liberia.
The Minister said China is a true friend to Liberia and has been the country during its tough times; adding that China has chosen to make Liberians understand them very well.
For his part, Chinese Ambassador Zhang Yue added that China-Liberia relations have developed very fast and brought many tangible benefits to Liberians.
The Chinese Ambassador explained that with persistent cooperation and assistance from the new government which takes over January 22, 2018, a new well-furnished modern terminal and ministerial complex will be presented to the people of Liberia before the end of the year.
Amb. Yue named the building of schools, hospitals, roads, bridges, provision of scholarships and training opportunities to promising Liberians as areas where China has helped Liberia. He said China is ‘digging’ boreholes for Liberians.
He hoped that the relations between China and Liberia will be further strengthened as he ends his four years of diplomatic service to Liberia, stating that he has seen and felt the strong friendship between China and Liberia.
He told Liberians that the Martial Arts performance will be held annually.
