The SKD Sports Complex is expected to brace itself with spectacular martial arts exhibition this Saturday, when the Liberia National Wushu Association (LNWA) in collaboration with the Fifth China FPU of UNMIL and the Confucius Institute host the maiden edition of the China-Liberia Martial Arts Exchange and Performance.
The China-Liberia martial arts exchange and performance is part of efforts aimed at promoting the two diverse cultures between China and Liberia as well as showcasing the confidence of China to the people of Liberia.
The event is expected to bring together athletes of the sport together.
It can be recalled that the Chinese Embassy last year held a one-day martial arts exhibition at the University of Liberia campus.
The Liberia Wushu Federation and the UNMIL Chinese Formed Police Unit (FPU) were participants in the day’s event. Though new to Liberia, the sport is gradually taking its place among other sports admired by young people across the country.
Chinese Kung Fu (Martial Arts or as popularly referred to as Gongfu or Wushu) is a series of fighting styles which has developed over a long historical period in China.
Nowadays, it is regarded as a traditional sport gaining more popularity.
